Our library is the heart of academic life at Kombolcha Polytechnic College. How to Use the Library

Simple guides to help you get started.

Membership

A valid student or staff ID is required to use all library services and to borrow books. Please present it at the front desk.

Borrowing

Students can borrow up to 3 books at a time. The loan period for each book is a maximum of 14 days.

Returning Books

Please return borrowed books on or before the due date. A fine of 5 Birr per day will be charged for each overdue book.

Renewals

Books can be renewed for an additional period, provided they have not been reserved by another user. Inquire at the front desk for details.

Lost or Damaged

In case of a lost or damaged book, you are responsible for its replacement or paying the cost as determined by the librarian.

Finding Resources

Use our online catalog or ask a librarian for assistance in locating physical books or accessing our digital resources.

Library Rules & Regulations

To ensure a pleasant and productive environment for all users.

Maintain silence and discipline in all reading and study areas.
No food or drinks are allowed inside the library to preserve materials and cleanliness.
All bags and personal belongings must be left at the designated area near the entrance.
Proper use of library materials and equipment is mandatory. Report any issues to staff.
Student ID is required for all transactions and access to digital resources and spaces.
Mobile phones must be on silent mode. All calls should be taken outside the library.
To maintain a quiet atmosphere, wearing noisy footwear like high heels is forbidden.

Your official Kombolcha Polytechnic College student ID card or staff ID serves as your library card. There is no need for a separate card. Simply present your ID at the front desk each time you wish to borrow materials or utilize any of the library's services. This ensures that all transactions are properly recorded and helps us maintain an accurate record of our resources.

A fine of 5 Birr per day per book will be charged for any materials returned after the due date. The due date is clearly indicated on the loan receipt you receive at the time of borrowing. Fines are an important part of our policy to ensure that all library users have timely access to popular resources. You can check your due dates and renew books online or at the circulation desk before the due date to avoid any penalties.

Our library computers are dedicated resources provided for academic research, coursework, and job applications. To ensure fair access for all users, they should not be used for social media, gaming, or general entertainment. We kindly ask that you respect this policy to help maintain a productive and efficient learning environment for everyone.

Yes, our library provides several group study rooms to facilitate collaborative learning and projects. These rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can be reserved at the front desk for a limited duration. We encourage students to make use of these spaces for discussions and teamwork without disturbing others in the main reading areas.
